Off to the Sonic Ranch!

Tomorrow, we leave for Sonic Ranch in Tornillo, TX to record the new album. The last album, Everyone on Everynight, was recorded at Sonic Ranch’s Adobe Studio. This time, we’re tracking in their Neve Studio, also known as the “big room.” We will be spending 16 days at this state of the art residential recording studio with Paul Leary behind the mixing boards. Paul Leary has produced for artists such as Sublime, Pepper, Slightly Stoopid, & The Expendables, so we are definitely excited to be working with him. He just recently finished producing the new Sublime w/ Rome album that’s set to release this summer.

Our friend, Joel Pearish, will be joining us in the studio to document our experiences in HD. Stay tuned for video updates throughout our time at the Sonic Ranch.

New Reggae Loop Video Posted – Happy Easter!

[youtube:http://youtu.be/rtDst6GD5Rg%5DI was playing around with my Boss RC-50 loop pedal for the first time in a long while and realized that I haven’t posted any loop videos since 2009. Since then, I’ve purchased a MacBook Pro, an Mbox2 Pro, & Logic Pro 9… so I’m now capable of optimizing the audio & arranging the loops on a grid. For the sake of keeping a “live loop” feel (vs. an “overly-engineered” feel), I didn’t record any more than 2 or 3 takes for each loop. As far as the music itself, this was something I wrote years ago that happened to still be saved on my loop pedal. My most viewed video on YouTube is currently “Reggae Loop Dub on Boss RC-50,” so I figured I would use this arrangement as a follow up to that. Enjoy!
